Benjamin Disraeli's Advice for Building Wealth
Former British prime minister Benjamin Disraeli once offered this observation:
“Success is the product of unremitting attention to purpose.”
Disraeli wasn’t offering personal finance advice, but this principle certainly applies to managing one’s finances. All too often, I see people pursuing strategies that fall, generally, into the category of get-rich-quick schemes. Examples include chasing hot stocks, trading options and attempting to time the market.
In my view, though, most investors will be better served by a far simpler strategy: investing in a broad market index at regular intervals, through thick and thin. It’s not as much fun as those get-rich-quick strategies, but in my experience, productive investing is supposed to be a little boring.
